On the 92nd birth anniversary of the late Mr. Kirtilal Manilal Mehta, SEWA organized Free Cataract Surgery Camps for underprivileged patients on January 24th, 1999. 50 needy patients revived their sense of sight, with the help of eminent ophthalmologists who performed cataract surgeries on them, free of cost. Apart from free surgeries, the camp offered services like pre-operative ophthalmic examinations, cardiology and radiology investigations, authentic check-ups, implanting quality lenses and post-operative follow-ups. Since the first Free Cataract Camp, SEWA has organized multiple Free Cataract and Sight Camps, to help those in need.
