The late Mrs. Menaben Mehta, the mother of the late Mr. Kirtilal Manilal Mehta, was a dynamic woman with an unwearing commitment to giving back to society. One insightful decision made by her created a ripple effect that touched countless lives. It completely transformed the state of healthcare, proving that all it really takes is one.

How the legendary tale of ‘One’ completely rewrote the lives of millions, begins with a humble sum of one thousand rupees and a dream to make a difference. The late Mrs. Menaben entrusted a thousand rupees, and a vision to give back to her community, to her grandson, a young 28-year-old Mr. Kishor Kirtilal Mehta. His wife, Mrs. Charu Mehta, and the late Mrs. Rekha Sheth also joined the initiative actively. Mr. Kishor Kirtilal Mehta and Mrs. Charu Mehta inspired their sons also to be part of the cause.

The logo depicts the strong desire to protect the happy nurturing, ever-growing and fearless attributes of humanity. The tagline featured in the logo, Helping Hands for the Welfare of Humanity symbolizes compassion, support, and the desire to make a positive impact on people's lives.

The Expansion

In 1978, with a sum of ₹1.5 Lakh, the Kirtilal Medical Trust was started with the mission to improve healthcare for all without discrimination. The Trust then went ahead to build the Lilavati Hospital which was fully funded by the family. The hospital now stands tall as one of the best medical facilities in the country.
